Spiegeltent Sunday Social

presents

An afternoon with Annie Nightingale

Wow! Are we excited or what!

The legendary Annie Nightingale – yes, the one and only Annie Nightingale – is coming to the Spiegeltent.

Annie will be talking to DJ Queen Bee about her illustrious career. Named BBC Radio’s first female presenter in 1970, and with four decades in broadcasting, Annie will reflect on the ever-changing music industry and her own pioneering role.

Annie’s warm, she’s witty and her enthusiasm for music is infectious, and because she’s unstoppable, she’ll be putting together an eclectic selection of her favourite tunes especially for the event.

It’s your chance to hear words and music from a true icon and it gets better because Annie will also be signing copies of her book and CD. This is a Sunday Social you won’t want to miss.

What’s a Sunday Social?

It’s a great way to spend Sunday. Good food, great entertainment and activities to keep the kids happy too. So, relax and enjoy the sumptuous atmosphere of the Spiegeltent, peruse the Sunday papers, order a Bloody Mary and tuck into a tasty roast dinner before the entertainment begins.

Our regular Sunday Social crowd know the format, but here’s a bit more about what to expect:

A festive roast dinner

It’s not Sunday without a roast. The menu will be emailed to you prior to the event to take your order. Don’t worry, we have vegetarian and vegan options too.

A week before the event, we’ll email you. You confirm your menu choices. Tickets include entry to the venue and a main course only, but if you’re one of the lucky ones with a separate ‘pudding stomach’ you can add a dessert for a small additional cost.

Doors open at midday and there are two sittings: 1 pm and 2 pm.  Our chefs are on schedule and we’re prompt with our service, so please be on time.  We suggest arriving a good half-hour before your sitting – ideal for an aperitif. If you’re late you may have to wait a bit longer for your meal.

We will seat your party when you arrive. If you need any special arrangements or a pre-reserved table, you’ll need to let us know before the day. We have both booths and large round tables and will do our best to give your party your own table, but for groups of less than six, you may need to share.

Kids’ entertainment

Because we’ve got a speaker in the main room, our kids’ activities won’t be the riot of noise we have at some events, but they’ll still be brilliant fun and we’ve got lots going on.

Drop-in sessions

These are taking place in our foyer. Completely free, just turn up and get stuck in. We can’t supervise the youngsters in these drop-ins, so you’ll need to hang around to keep your eyes on them.

The Let's Make Art crew will be helping everyone get crafty and we’re organising street dance lessons – feel free to join in if your kids don’t object.

Kids’ Social Room

Because everybody loves to dress up, we’ve got costume design workshops in a separate room, and we’ve organised a photo booth because snapshots of the event make the memories last.

We’ve got two separate sessions, and you can book the workshop when you arrive. The sessions last for one hour, cost just £5, and if you want to leave your children or young adults with us while you enjoy the rest of the event, that’s fine. We’ll take good care of them.

Event info

Entry & Roast ticket holders will have a seat for the duration of the event, but if you want to boogie, feel free.

If children are joining you for lunch they will need a Kids’ Roast ticket.

Entry Only tickets are standing tickets for entry after 2.30 pm but there will be some unreserved seating available.
